Happy Mom Monday. Try meditating on this today: This is a portion of Psalm 78; " O my people, hear my teaching; listen to the words of my mouth. I will open my mouth in parables, I will utter hidden things, things from of old- what WE HAVE HEARD AND KNOWN, what our fathers have told us. WE WILL NOT HIDE THEM FROM THEIR CHILDREN; WE WILL TELL THE NEXT GENERATION THE PRAISEWORTHY DEEDS OF THE LORD, HIS POWER, AND THE WONDERS HE HAS DONE. He decreed statutes for Jacob and established the law in Isreal, which he COMMANDED our forefathers to TEACH THEIR CHILDREN, SO THE NEXT GENERATION WOULD KNOW THEM, EVEN THE CHILDREN YET TO BE BORN, AND THEY IN TURN WOULD TELL THEIR CHILDREN. Then they would put their TRUST IN GOD and would NOT FORGET HIS DEEDS BUT WOULD KEEP HIS COMMANDS. They would not be like their forefathers- a stubborn and rebellious generation, whose HEARTS WERE NOT LOYAL TO GOD, WHOSE SPIRITS WERE NOT FAITHFUL TO HIM. ........................................... ..................................When the Lord heard them, he was very angry; ...for they DID NOT BELIEVE IN GOD OR TRUST IN HIS DELIVERANCE............IN SPITE OF HIS WONDERS, THEY DID NOT BELIEVE.....HOW OFTEN THEY REBELLED AGAINST HIM IN THE DESERT AND GRIEVED HIM IN THE WASTELAND! AGAIN AND AGAIN THEY PUT GOD TO THE TEST; THEY VEXED THE HOLY ONE OF ISREAL. THEY DID NOT REMEMBER HIS POWER......." May we pass on God's teaching to our children. If we had mothers/fathers who told us of the praiseworthy deeds of the Lord may we thank them often for their faithfulness and loyalty to God. If we did not have parents that loved the Lord, may that not stop us from beginning NOW to know & love God and teach our children. May we be faithful to the task of knowing his wonders and REMEMBERING THEM. May we be diligent in guarding our own hearts and spirits that they would be LOYAL AND FAITHFUL to the One we were made for. May we believe His words and trust in him remembering his power. If we have rebellious and stubborn chidlren may we take comfort in knowing that God knows exactly what that feels like. May WE NOT BE STUBBORN AND REBELLIOUS CHILDREN TOWARD HIM. May we continue to pray for our children BELIEVING IN GODS WORDS that say, "The prayers of a righteous man/woman are POWERFUL AND EFFECTIVE." May we not give up praying for our children until we see the wonders of God, until our children have soft, moldable, loyal hearts that do not refuse to live by his ways. May we trust in his deliverance. May we be the kind of children to God that we so desperately desire our children to be: obedient, loving to their brothers/sisters, cheerful helpers, selfless, generous, forgiving..........May we live by the golden rule as we parent today, "Do to others (God) as we would have others (our children) do to us." Blessings from Bombadil. Kristy Link p.s. I would encourage all of us moms, to have our own family book of the wonders God is doing NOW in our own individual families. May we be faithful to record his work and activity among us that our children may grow up KNOWING AND BELIEVING that God is real and alive and still doing wonders today. "I will continue with all of you for your progress and joy in the faith, so that through my being with you again your joy in Christ Jesus will overflow on account of me." Phillipians 1:25 & 26 |
