wounded

There lived a happy family with 5 children; 3 boys and 2 girls. Although the boys were "all boy" and loved doing all kinds of adventurous things, and although one had lived for 11 years, another for 9 and the third son for almost 7 years, none of them had broken any bones................until yesterday......St. Patrick's day.

After school yesterday, while we lingered at the playground enjoying the WONDERFUL weather, Zeke jumped off one of the pieces of equipment and broke his right arm. Rob spent many hours in the E.R. comforting and loving our son through this first (although probably not last if he follows in his father's footsteps) broken bone experience. So, we've got a wounded one over here, one of the millions who has been wounded by accident, not by choice or on purpose like someone else I know, someone who WILLINGLY laid down his life FOR YOUR SAKE AND MINE.

"Who has believed our message and to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed? He grew up before him like a tender shoot, and like a root out of dry ground.
HE HAD NO BEAUTY OR MAJESTY TO ATTRACT US TO HIM, NOTHING IN HIS APPEARANCE THAT WE SHOULD DESIRE HIM. HE WAS DESPISED AND REJECTED BY MEN, A MAN OF SORROWS, AND FAMILIAR WITH SUFFERING. LIKE ONE FROM WHOM MEN HIDE THEIR FACES HE WAS DESPISED, AND WE ESTEEMED HIM NOT.
Surely he took up our infirmities and carried our sorrows, yet we considered him stricken by God, smitten by him, and afflicted. BUT HE WAS PIERCED FOR OUR TRANSGRESSIONS, HE WAS CRUSHED FOR OUR INIQUITIES; THE PUNISHMENT THAT BROUGHT US PEACE WAS UPON HIM, AND BY HIS WOUNDS WE ARE HEALED.
WE ALL, LIKE SHEEP, HAVE GONE ASTRAY, EACH OF US HAS TURNED TO HIS OWN WAY; AND THE LORD HAS LAID ON HIM THE INIQUITY OF US ALL.
He was oppressed and afflicted, YET HE DID NOT OPEN HIS MOUTH, he was led like a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is silent, so he did not open his mouth. By oppression and judgement he was taken away, and who can speak of his descendants? For he was cut off from the land of the living; for the transgression of my people he was stricken. He was assigned a grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death, THOUGH HE HAD DONE NO VIOLENCE, NOR WAS ANY DECEIT IN HIS MOUTH. Yet it was the Lord's will to crush him and cause him to suffer, and though the Lord makes his life a guilt offering, he will see his offspring and prolong his days, and the will of the Lord will prosper in his hand. AFTER THE SUFFERING OF HIS SOUL, HE WILL SEE THE LIGHT OF LIFE AND BE SATISFIED; by his knowledge my righteous servant will justify many, and he will bear their iniquities. Therefore I will give him a portion among the great, and he will divide the spoils with the strong, because HE POURED OUT HIS LIFE UNTO DEATH, and was numbered with the transgressors. For he bore the sin of many and made intercession for the transgressors."-Isaiah 53

As I write, I am watching Zeke scoot down our stairs in great pain, because of one broken bone in his arm that he would never have broken on purpose. Then I think of Jesus, who

'his appearance was so disfigured beyond that of any man and his form marred beyond human likeness." Isaiah 52:14

He willingly gave up his life and said,

"No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord." John 10:18

May I encourage you today to hold in the forefront of your mind today all that Jesus went through so that you and I could be at peace with God. Like the disciples, May

"We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body. For we who are alive are always being given over to death for Jesus' sake so that his life may be revealed in our mortal body." 2 Corinthians 4:10 & 11

Our great mission is to reveal his life through our mortal body- His incredible goodness, love, mercy, compassion, truthfulness, tenderness, gentleness, and seriousness toward sin and all that destroys His wonderful creation.

May you find comfort in knowing that Jesus knows what it feels like to be rejected, unattractive physically, despised and rejected, familiar with suffering and sorrows. May you be thankful today for his sacrifice and may you not break your arm or anything else today. Blessings from Bombadil. May your soul be watered and may you water another's soul. Kirsty Joy Link
